Crucifix Armlock

Submission · Turtle

An elbow lock from the crucifix: the arm trapped between your legs is straightened over your thigh until the elbow hyperextends. It is the answer when, in the crucifix at the side of the turtle, he hides his neck from the choke and leaves the trapped arm as the target. Keep that arm straight and squeezed in your legs, hold his other arm so it cannot help, and turn his forearm so the thumb points up and the elbow faces your thigh. The thigh must sit right under the elbow as the fulcrum; without it, extending the legs only pulls the arm. Extend slowly. If he bends the arm, go back to the crucifix choke; if he rolls, settle the crucifix again. His hands may be tied, so agree on a verbal tap.

How to do it

  1. In the crucifix, keep the arm trapped between your legs straight, the legs squeezing it tight so it cannot bend or slide out.
  2. Keep your control on their other arm so they cannot reach across to help the trapped one.
  3. Turn their thumb up by rotating the trapped forearm, so that the elbow faces your thigh.
  4. Put their elbow across your thigh, so the thigh sits right at the joint and becomes the fulcrum.
  5. Extend your legs slowly: the arm is straightened over your thigh against the joint. Stop at the tap.

Key details

  • Your thigh is the fulcrum: without it under the elbow, extending the legs only pulls the arm, it does not lock it.
  • Their thumb points up so the elbow faces your thigh: with the thumb down the elbow simply bends the natural way.
  • It works when they defend the neck: hiding the neck from the crucifix choke leaves the trapped arm as the target.
  • If he turns the arm to escape the angle, do not let go: change the direction of your push so it still goes against the elbow, or switch to the choke.

Common mistakes

  • The elbow is not on your thigh. — With no fulcrum under the joint, the arm bends instead of locking. — Slide the elbow over the thigh first, then extend.
  • Thumb down. — The elbow bends the natural way and there is no lock. — Rotate their thumb to point up before you extend your legs.
  • Extending the legs fast. — The arm is trapped and cannot escape, so it breaks before they can tap. — Extend slowly and wait for the tap.

How to drill it

Safety
