Transition · Standing
A rolling entry into a leg lock from standing, named after the Japanese fighter Masakazu Imanari. You roll diagonally over your shoulder in front of his lead leg and wrap it with your legs while still rolling: he falls and you land in ashi garami with access to the heel. It works when he stands upright and keeps his distance. Risky: a miss leaves you on your back under a standing opponent, so it is learned after the basic leg locks.
Shoulder rolls across the mat, then slow rolls onto a partner who stands still with the lead leg out, 3 × 5 each side.
Mats only. Learn the shoulder roll alone first. Heel hooks slowly, release at the first sign; check the competition rules — heel hooks are not allowed for every belt.
Pick a position, then select a technique to see its trigger and what it unlocks. Icon = type of move. Color bar: green position, navy move, red submission, black chained finish.
