Lasso Triangle
Submission · Open Guard
A triangle, a blood choke: your thigh closes one side of his neck and his own inside shoulder closes the other. It comes from lasso guard when your grips and lasso leg pull him forward and his posture breaks, bringing his head toward your hips. Hold both sleeves. Release the lasso leg and shoot it over his shoulder and behind his neck, keeping the inside sleeve. The lasso arm is now outside and the other arm inside: exactly the triangle arrangement. Lock the back of your other knee over your ankle, cut the angle toward the trapped arm, pull the head down and squeeze the knees. Against a tall posture the leg cannot reach the neck, so break the posture first. If he postures and stacks, take the triangle armbar; if he pulls the inside arm out, go to the lasso sweep.
How to do it
- From the lasso guard, hold the lasso sleeve and the other sleeve.
- Pull them forward with the grips and the lasso leg to break their posture, so their head comes down toward your hips.
- Release the lasso leg and shoot it over their shoulder behind the neck, keeping the inside sleeve grip.
- The lasso arm stays outside, the other arm inside: lock the triangle, putting the back of your other knee over your ankle.
- Cut the angle toward the trapped arm, pull the head down and squeeze the knees together.
Key details
- The lasso already puts the arms in the right place: one out, one in.
- Break the posture first; against a tall posture the leg cannot reach the neck.
- Keep the inside sleeve until the lock is closed: released early, the arm comes out and there is no triangle.
- Knee over ankle, then cut the angle: the same finish as any triangle.
- Before releasing the lasso, sit up and grab deep in his collar to pull his head down, then switch that hand to his triceps as the leg goes over: he cannot posture back up in the gap.
- Hold the lasso sleeve palm up with the elbow glued to your hip: palm down, the elbow leaves the hip when he pulls and he strips the arm out.
Common mistakes
- Shooting the leg with their posture up. — The leg lands on the shoulder, not behind the neck. — Pull them forward first.
- Letting go of the inside sleeve. — They pull the arm out and there is no triangle. — Hold it until the lock is closed.
- Finishing square. — Square, the neck has space; they posture and stack you. — Cut the angle toward the trapped arm.
- The lasso knee drifting outside his arm. — He keeps that arm tight inside and blocks the leg from going over the neck. — Keep the lasso knee in front of and inside his arm, foot up, so the leg can go straight over the shoulder.
How to drill it
From the lasso: break the posture, shoot the leg, lock the triangle, 6 each side.
Safety
