Takedown · Standing
A counter to the double leg that takes you from open distance to side control: you sprawl over his back and roll him over you. It works when he shoots with his head low and keeps driving, so his back is under your chest. Sprawl first to stop the drive, then reach over his back and lock your arms around his waist or belly from above, hands tight under his stomach. Keep him tight to your chest and roll back and to the side over your shoulder, not straight onto your head: his own forward drive carries him over your body and he lands on his back. Follow the roll through and come up on top across his chest. The key is the lock around the middle and the forward drive: without the drive he is too heavy to roll. Falling onto your own neck or rolling with a loose grip leaves you on your back under him. If he bases wide on his knees and stops the roll, stay on the front headlock; if he rolls through to his knees, attack the turtle.
The partner shoots slowly; you sprawl, lock and roll at half speed onto crash mats, 3 x 5 each side.
Both bodies go over your shoulder: roll to the side, never onto your head or neck. The partner lands on the upper back; they tuck the chin. Only on thick mats, first at half speed.
Pick a position, then select a technique to see its trigger and what it unlocks. Icon = type of move. Color bar: green position, navy move, red submission, black chained finish.
