Forearm Slicer

Submission · Side Control

A compression lock on the forearm and wrist: your forearm is a wedge across the inside of his forearm near the wrist, and his hand is folded down over it, crushing the forearm and bending the wrist. It comes when he frames on your neck with a bent arm from under side control or mount. Trap that arm against your body, slide your forearm, blade of the wrist first, into the inside of his forearm just below his wrist, grab his hand with your other hand and fold it toward his elbow over your wedge. The wedge has to be on the forearm close to the wrist; up near the elbow it is only a bent arm. If he straightens the arm, take ude gatame; if he pulls the bent arm down to his body, the kimura. It hurts suddenly: close slowly and check your rules.

How to do it

  1. From side control or mount he frames on your neck with a bent arm. Pin that arm against your body so the elbow cannot drop away.
  2. Slide your forearm, blade of the wrist first, across the inside of his forearm just below his wrist.
  3. Grab the back of his hand with your other hand.
  4. Fold his hand toward his elbow over your forearm, slowly, until the tap. Your forearm is the wedge.

Key details

  • The wedge sits on the forearm close to the wrist. Near the elbow nothing compresses.
  • Keep his elbow pinned: if the arm straightens or drops, the lock is gone.
  • Close slowly: the wrist gives little warning.

Common mistakes

  • The forearm is placed near his elbow. — There is no wedge, only a bent arm. — Slide the wedge down to just below the wrist.
  • Letting the elbow drift away. — He straightens the arm off the wedge. — Pin the elbow with your body first.

How to drill it

Partner frames on your neck; you set the wedge and grip the hand without pressure, 10 reps each arm.

Safety
