Chain finish · Closed Guard
A leg choke for the moment the triangle fails: the opponent has pulled the trapped arm out, and your legs close around his neck with no arm inside. Switch your figure-four to the opposite side from the triangle, or cross the ankles with the legs extended, so the thighs and knees form a "teepee" over his head. Hug his arm on the mat under your arm, squeeze the knees together and reach around the outside of your knees with both hands to an S-grip behind his head, pulling it in. Scoot your hips back so his forehead is at your navel, not your chest, then pinch the knees and pull the head down. It often bites as much on the trapped shoulder and neck as on the carotids, so apply slowly. If he puts an arm back inside, go back to the triangle; if he straightens the arm against your knee, take the armbar from guard.
From the triangle the partner pulls the arm out; switch to the teepee, S-grip, squeeze lightly. Then the partner puts the arm back in so you return to the triangle. 5 reps each side.
Presses the neck and the shoulder hard: pull slowly and release at the first tap.
