Rear Ezekiel Choke

Submission · Back Control

A sleeve choke from behind: your forearm lies across his throat and your other hand pushes his head forward into it, so it presses the windpipe. From back control with the body triangle, when his hands are at his neck and the chin blocks the rear naked choke. Squeeze the body triangle first so he cannot turn out while both your hands work. Slide your top forearm under the chin and across the throat, not the jaw, grip deep inside the sleeve of your other arm with that hand, and put the other hand behind his head. Push the head forward and pull the forearm back slowly. The sleeve grip needs less space under the chin and keeps the forearm from sliding. If he pulls the arm down, take the armbar from the back; if he slides down, mount.

How to do it

  1. From the body triangle, squeeze the legs first so they cannot turn out while your hands work.
  2. Slide your top forearm under the chin and across their throat, not on the jaw.
  3. With the hand of the choking arm, grip deep inside the sleeve of your other arm, so the sleeve grip locks the forearm in place on the throat.
  4. Put the free hand behind their head, the blade of the hand or forearm against the back of the head.
  5. Push the head forward and pull the forearm back to close the choke, slowly, until the tap.

Key details

  • Use it when the chin blocks the rear naked choke. The forearm and sleeve grip need less space under the chin.
  • The sleeve grip locks it in place. It holds the forearm on the throat so you squeeze without it sliding.
  • The body triangle stops them from turning out. Your hands are both busy, so the legs must keep the position.

Common mistakes

  • A shallow sleeve grip. — It slips as you squeeze. — Grip deep inside your own sleeve.
  • The forearm on the chin. — It presses the jaw, not the throat. — Slide the forearm under the chin to the throat.
  • A loose body triangle. — They turn out and escape the back. — Squeeze the legs before you attack.
